Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya-In commemoration of National Music Day, Surabaya State
University through KKM Gamelan Sawunggaling, Department of Sendratasik, Faculty
of Language and Arts in collaboration with the East Java Provincial Cultural
Office and East Java Provincial Cultural Park held a music performance entitled
"Jelajah Bunyi Nusantara: Archipelago Sounds 2021" on March 9-13,
2021. The event was held virtually and broadcast live streaming on the Youtube
channel of Disbudpar Jatim, Cakdurasim and Gamelan Sawunggaling.
There were several performances on the opening
night of the event. Some of them include music works from Pamuji Nir Kala from
East Java Music Art Activists, Segothak-Segatheng from Sanggar Baladewa,
Alap-alap from group 7 MM with composers Suwandi Widianto, Surabaya, and
Kabasmaran from Anom Suneko and Omah Gamelan with composer Anom Suneko,
Yogyakarta. In addition, there are also performances from music activists on
the islands of Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara and Papua.
Head Department of Sendratasik, FBS, Unesa, Dr.
Anik Juwariyah, M. Si., said that the cooperation in organizing the show was
the umpteenth time. She hopes that the upcoming cooperation will increase both
in quality and quantity. As a major engaged in art, she continued, Unesa
through KKM Gamelan Sawunggaling strongly supported the event. This is because
it can increase the experience of students in the field of art and can also be
a means of socializing Indonesian art and culture, especially in the field of
music to the general public. "Thank you to all parties, and hopefully this
can be a joint effort in caring for, maintaining, and developing the art and
culture of Nusantara music," she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of UPT Taman Budaya Jatim,
Agus Ramajanto, S.Sos., MM., said that the purpose of the show was as a means
of strengthening the "musical religiosity" of music actors and became
a gathering place for the art community and all Indonesian people. In addition,
it is also a medium for strengthening the knowledge of Nusantara music and
becoming a space for expression and appreciation of art in the field of music.
Head of the East Java Culture and Tourism
Office, Sinarto, S. Kar., MM., said that March 9 is an interesting and
important note to remember by all Indonesian people, because it is a National
Music Day. According to him, National Music Day should be understood as a
national awakening day, both rising in advancing the art or culture of national
music and rising consciously from the slump due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He continued, that the revival needs to be
realized through various forms of creativity and innovation that are infinite
in the use of information technology and digitalization to develop and advance
Indonesian art and culture. "Let's rise together through this music show
and National Music Day. Open a live streaming channel and watch the rich
